can only add a single link at a time, authentication has to be re-entered over and over for every link. This needs to allow copy paste of list of links and authentication based on host name that is remembered to be anywhere near usable. does not support 302 redirects as far as I can tell either.
For people who want to download small files ,it’s good to use. However it’s not enough for people who want BT downloading. Most important of all, it’s free.
Simple and effective, especially with the browser extensions. My only suggestion would be to add keychain access for automatic authentication with an option to enable a popup that requests permission once per session. With that feature, I’d bump it up to 5 stars for sure.
With all the ads harrassing me, it certainly feels like a cheesy app. But once I get down to actully use it, I find it powerful and fast enough to be my sole app to handle all the http link downloads.
try to download something from sim racing world - did not work, download starts and finish after downloading couple of kbs, the is no explanation how to make it work….
Download Shuttle is a good little downloader workhorse app. It does the job pretty quickly – its segmented file transfer aspect (a 5-section split) is well-executed, providing faster downloads. While recent versions have improved, there are still some kinks that need to be worked out. For example, it occasionally downloads as one segment creating an empty file but thinks it downloaded the entire target file successfully. But that rarely happens now. Also, FIPLAB’s Download Shuttle User Guide and support aren’t so great, but at least user guide exists now – it didn’t for a while. However, it was basically easy enough to figure out how to use it on my own. Lastly, for some unknown reason, when I first started using this app, it sort of didn’t work at all. Maybe it was an early version, but it actually felt as though the app had to get used to my computer – once it did, though, its performance improved greatly. So you might need to be a little patient at the beginning. Complaints aside, I like this app a lot and gladly recommend it.
I did a quick search to find a download manager app, found this and tried it. Happened to be offered for free at the time of writing this. I’m very impressed with this app and would quickly pay for it if they started charging again. Loads really fast, downloaded the file quickly, worked flawless and did exactly what I was hoping it would do. Highly recommended it to my friends already.
I was searching for this app a long time, thank you. However, the time remaining needs a fix ;) the time remaining is the time needed to complete the 6 segments, it is not the sum of time of all segments, for e.g. if one segment needs 1 min to complete all segments need ~1 min, then the time remaining is 1 min not 6 min to complete.
This app is free right now! It’s perfect for downloading ebooks. The download speed is very quick!
Tried to download the Xcode disk image with this; it created a 6.3Kb file and not the 4.4GB file it was supposed to be. Avoid this pile of $h!t, even free it’s not worth the money. It’s got some annoying ads at the start too.
I expected this app to not accelerate due to each part hogging its own bandwidth, but truly this app is amazing. Each segment gets full bandwidth and more than triples my download speed, giving me near gigabit-per-second donwloads. Can’t recommend this app enough!!!!!
i was downloading from safari with 1mb/sec get bored , installed this app, now its 3.5mb/sec. recommended !
It is a great app.At first i did not think it would work, but it did, saved me a lot of time on a big download i had to do to finish a work. I highly recommend it.
It split the file into multiple segments for faster downloading. But after the downloading completed, It became a wrong file name and wrong file extension. Which is very annoying sometimes.
Only drawback is that it only allows you to segment a download into 6 files.
I gave it a shot and when the file was about to be finished, the remaining time became 4356542 years.
