Download Shuttle: Speed Boost App Reviews

won’t work at all

It doesn’t matter if I add url manually or do the same via safari extension it simply won’t download anything.

Thank so much!

I live that because it simple without lots of settings! I’m waitting for you updates and working with the extenstion for the browsers!

works good and has much potential

(Sorry for my poor english but this would be an important feedback) It does work just what it says, but it can be smarter. The app devides the file into some identical files and each thread downloads the segment. However, even if one thread have already finished, the app does not make another thread which other download accelerator makes. You have to wait until for each thread downloading all their segment evenif the threads have various download speeds.

Download Shuttle

It worked great for the first few downloads and I thought it would be super. BUTTTTTT, then it just stopped working and every time I tried to use it I would get “application unresponsive” message and had to force quit. Too bad it didn’t work, I did really like it. Are there alternatives?

Great App!

Does what it says, makes downloads faster and allows on some downloads for pause/restart!

Good Idea but doesn’t Work AT ALL

Doesn’t work at all. Says “Download complete” after about .5 seconds and then you click and there is nothing in the file. Deleting. Waste of space. Please fix.

Great App - But Needs More Work

This app it just blazes Folx in all senses, it’s beautiful, easy to use and works. However, there are things that they need to do: - Translation - Plugins for Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc. - Programmer - More options for downloads in Preferences - A scheduler - Etc… Until they dont make a plugin for Safari, just like Folx, I will give 4 stars.

Useful, But Annoying

When I first downloaded Download Shuttle I was pretty skeptical. I ran a few tests and was blown away, Download Shuttle would download a large file in 1/3 the time that it would take to download via Safari. In that regard, it works really well. There is also a Safari extension avalible on their website that will allow you to right-click on a download link and downlod it with Download Shuttle. While I really love this app, the reason why I’m only giving it 3 stars is because of the incredibly annoying startup window that advertises FIBLAP’s other apps and takes two clicks to dismiss. When I’m using Download Shuttle, I’m trying to save time and anything that costs more time becomes a big usability problem. At the very least, let people purchase an IAP to permanently remove the startup window.

Simply Works

Download Shuttle does what you want: it downloads fast. DS downloads faster than your browser, alone. DS gets files/pages from urls, directly; you do not need to open a browser. DS downloads files faster by splitting a target file into segments. DS downloads the segments simultaneously, then recompiles the full file. DS is a lightweight app; it demands little from your CPU. Simply, DS is a utility worth having. It adds convenience and saves time.

Hangs too often

When it works, it works brilliantly. But very often it just hangs and needs to be force-quitted. This happens particularly when authentication is needed for a download.

many problems

it was very nice at first but it crashed every time and i suddanly realized that the downloads stop!!! and also it will stop when ur computer screens goes off but folx3 is not like that!!

Works well

Been running this for awhile. I don’t have the hang up issues as some of the reviews stated. Pretty stable with Mavericks and a Macbook Air 2013

Needs to be fixed for downloading music

I tried downloading music from a website with this app and it kept crashing and so I would have to force quit it cause in the force quit it showed that the app was not responding which is unusual. Please Fix for downloading music!!!

Does not do anything

Could never get it to work for either videos or photos or web pages or documents. it just asks you for information, then downloads one blank file or just hangs up and freezes...

Works great! Especially with a large file, and a flakey ISP

I have been trying to download a large file for some time now. Half way through download my ISP blows up and it fails. Out of frustration I searched the App store for “download manager” and this is what popped up. I tried it, and it worked. I would have to “restart” the download a few times when my ISP blew up but the app allowed me to start downloading from where I last left off… vs. from the begining again. Great app, thanks!

cant get flash to download

Default Safari Download Is Faster, First Segment Is Always Slow

I have been testing this app out since it’s release. It could be great if improved. A few things I have noticed… When downloading a file, the last four segments will be fast, But, Some segments will always be very slow, and waiting for these segment(s) to complete takes forever. This happens on almost all downloads. Waiting on this first segment takes way longer than to just download the file the normal way through Safari. The other thing I notice that with password protected downloads, it will just download an html file and not the corect file. This is after I enter my credentials. It will not work for most protected downloads. I have a fast connection around 100 Mbps, so that should be fast enough for the first segent to download at top speed, but it’s sluggish every time. Please fix these issues, especially the first, it negates the whole point of an app like this. I hope this gets corrected. Thanks very much

Some segments are slow

It is unclear why some segments are quite fast and others quite slow. With a static number of total segments, your download will not finish until the slowest segment is in. Why doesn’t the app maintain the same number of active segments, creating new segments on the go after old (fastest) ones finish, in order to speed up the download further? Algorithmically this should be straightforward.

Mind Blown!

I was skeptical about trying another download manager after failing so many times (iGetter, SpeedTao, Folx, etc) this one breaks the file into a user specified number of segments and the speeds are definitely increased. I love it!

Download Shuttle - never been able to use it

I have never been able to use this app. Everytime i try to use it, i just get a spinning wheel and i have to do a force shut down. I have never been able to get this app to work
